...and I'm SURE this has been asked before, but the "S" on the end of "Georges" is silent... is that correct?

And not only the “S”, but when you think about it both the “E”s as well.

And one of the “E”s in his surname, too (the last one, obviously).

French pronunciation, kinda like "zhorzh"...
Though I did have a friend years ago who said it like "George is" and it took me a while to work out what he was talking about...

Having just travelled through several continental European countries, and being unable to utter more than a few words in the local languages (well, I am English!), I take to the general rule ... in Italian you pronounce every letter (but 'c' can be very confusing ... soft or hard, or - as in Piccioni - when doubled it inherits what sounds, to me, like a 't') ...

... whereas, in French, you never sound the last letter unless it is accented (e.g. when the Concorde was named it had to be spelt with the 'e' so that the full name would be pronounced ... or is that fokelore?)

But, back to M. Deleure, according to Discogs, he has been known, inter alia, as De La Rue (see: https://www.discogs.com/artist/206215-Georges-Delerue?filter_anv=1&anv=De+La+Rue)

Which doesn't add to what has been stated so far ... but I find amusing.

This is one of those lovely/lilting tunes that Delerue had the ability to fire out with almost constant ease.

It would be right at home in those delightful scores he did for AMAZING STORIES (DOROTHY & BEN, THE DOLL).

Always ready for a Delerue release. My favorite European based film composer. His music is so rich in melody.
