Lovely, it brings it all back. George Martin wrote it for BBC Radio 1. I think it was the first thing heard on Radio 1, that's before DJ Tony Blackburn played the first ever pop song on the channel, The Move's, Flowers In The Rain. Back in the sixties there was no BBC pop radio channel, but in the mid-sixties, Pirate Radio started coming from small ships moored just offshore, Radio Caroline & my favourite, Radio London. A change of law outlawed these, & the BBC realised that they really needed to provide that service, so they made a big change to their four radio channels: Radio 1, pop - Radio 2, pre-pop (old fashioned stuff) - Radio 3, classical & Radio 4 drama/doc/comedy. Of course there's a lot more channels these days, & Radio 2 now plays what Radio 1 used to play.
