Anyone confused by how many units this was and/or “interest remains” must not have seen my 1000 posts and or read the product page where it stated this was always a 500 release. Intrada has a few 500 releases besides R.G. Reading, it’s a remarkable thing. smile The liner notes as well as well as the product page mentioned me and what I did on this release. Reading, it’s a groovy thing. smile Nothing more we can do if folks don’t read the product page in five months. It was all there in black font. I know it was as I read it a few times smile

Glad those that got it, got it!

This is fantastic news! Sell outs are great. I for one have this as best "premiere release old score" this year. Congratulations to all involved. Way to go Peter. Oh, and reading I remember a psot a while back where several Board Members stated they do not even bother to read liner notes/booklets. Don't you recall that post? How mad is that?-not reading liner notes for a release.

Last sentence "Intrada Special Collection CD limited to 500 units!" does not explain why it was decided that this one would go back to a stated number of units. BTW, I did not read the entire blurb. It's a huge block of text and paragraphs would have helped with readability.

It's also handling stated in the first post of this thread which posted the announcement, which is typical in threads on Intrada releases here for years. Still no excuse.

Sorry you were not able to read a long paragraph. Intrada's description usually have a nice long paragraph describing their albums. I would suggest you reach out to them and tell them that it's too difficult for you to read one long paragraph. I do not run their website so I'm not able to assist in that. Intrada in the last few years has released a few 500 unit releases and when they announce them that part is always there, similar to Rocket Gibraltar. As well I mentioned this was a 500 copy release dozens of times on here, Facebook etc. If the paragraphs are too long for you on all the Intrada release product pages as they are all the same format, have you thought about copying the text into a word document and then creating 2 or 3 paragraphs from that. Maybe that would be helpful for you for future releases from Intrada. If you need help I can always copy the paragraphs and put them into separate paragraphs for you and then send them your way. Sorry you missed this very special and beautiful score w-dervish. Only wish you didn't wait until the last second so often to buy all the releases. smile

Sorry you were not able to read a long paragraph.

I just visited the page and was able to read it. I was only saying my preference is for multiple paragraphs over one huge block of text.

Intrada in the last few years has released a few 500 unit releases and when they announce them that part is always there, similar to Rocket Gibraltar.

I'm not aware of others.

As well I mentioned this was a 500 copy release dozens of times on here, Facebook etc.

OK. I overlooked you mentioning that. Not that a mention of it being limited to 500 is an explanation of why it is 500. Not that I care any longer, so forget it. I do not look at whatever Facebook page you are referring to very often. "etc" is something I don't recall ever looking at.

Sorry you missed this very special and beautiful score w-dervish. Only wish you didn't wait until the last second so often to buy all the releases.

I didn't say anything about whether I purchased or not.

Well w-dervish, I don't blame you for being annoyed about a paragraph formatted in a way you don't prefer that caused you to miss out on a CD you may or may not have wanted and may or may not have missed out on.

I just gave this CD a first listen last night, I am about halfway through and really enjoying it. As a listening experience there is so much variety in the music, and also a lot of moments that remind me of other scores I enjoy. Very happy to have picked this up, and looking forward to listening to the rest tonight including the alternates and unused stuff. After that I'll have to check out the film too!

Cheers to this holy grail score release! And hope that its success prompts future releases of other scores.

I am not upset about anything*. I have no idea why you think I am.

*not regarding this CD, at least. I am upset about other things not having anything to do with this CD. If you want to scratch your head about that... go ahead. I don' t know why you would, though. Unless I told you what things upset me and you did not understand my reasoning.

Having no insider information nor dog in this fight, my guess is that the budget/prevailing producer interests allowed for a run of 500 and those same interests thought it was more likely to sell the full 500 units when the number limit was specifically stated. It's a gorgeous score that I very proudly own but it's a limited market inside a limited market.

I had no say in the run size. That was an Intrada decision. I'm just speculating here, but for a title that is almost completely unknown to almost every collector, maybe their mind set was, this was going to be a HARD sell out just from the onset as collectors like to buy what they know or composers they know and like. It seems like so many titles now a days are not selling out and that is the whole game plan here for all labels, sell out. I believe that if Intrada had done a 1000 on this, most collectors would think, "unheard film I've never heard or seen like most collectors, this will be around for a while I'll get it but I'll put it on the back burner for now." That's probably how my mind would have worked if I was on the other side of this release. And it still took 5 months and a week to sell this out and that took a lot of effort and postings by me to help push so many of us. But like I said I always knew that once people listened to the whole score they would be happy that they took the chance and bought it like yourself, which I'm very thankful you did Mike! I made no money on this project, but spent a great deal of my own to get an almost completed master, liner notes, stills etc. to Intrada so this would be as easy as possible for them. They could not have been any better to work with, not at all and I mean that completely truthfully.
I do have a hunch that once it sells out at all the other places like ScreenArchives etc. this will be a hard to find item as those that have it I think are going to be keeping them in their collections. I don't even know if I've even answered your questions Mike, lol. So much effort by so many people that hearing how much people are enjoying it, honestly makes me look back at all the work and I can say, it was ALL worth it! Happy holidays my friend smile

As I've said to you elsewhere, Peter, I'm happy for you that this sold out.

I only knew ROCKET GIBRALTAR by name beforehand, but as an Alan Parsons Project completist for almost 30 years (and an avid fan of Powell's LADYHAWKE), I'm glad I took a chance on a rare CD order (for me) and got this.

I wanted to say thank you to EVERYONE who took a chance and bought this soundtrack. Edwin and I put our money where our mouth is and I can not even begin to tell you how much work Edwin put fourth on this soundtrack so what you all got to listen to was a seamless and beautiful score. This to me was the highlight for me professionally in 2018. I can not even begin to tell you how much this meant to me and how important it was to get this into as many soundtrack fans collections as possible. Upon listening to it tonight, I'm a little misty eyed that it actually happened. HUGE thank you to everyone at Intrada and Edwin. smile

Thank you, Peter. I'm glad I bought a copy.

There is now one copy for sale on Ebay for $36.99. Predictable.

It took a while, but my package of discs from SAE with 'Rocket Gibraltar' arrived yesterday, and I picked them up this morning as I had to pay import fees (which weren't as high as I thought they'd be, despite the full value being written on the customs declaration).

I've yet to listen to it, but am looking forward to doing so smile

drivingmissdaisy - Just wanted to say I took a chance on Rocket Gibraltar when I saw the thread pop up here with your posts emphatically pushing the soundtrack and encouraging folks to buy it. I gave the samples a quick listen and still wasn't sure, but pulled the trigger and ordered it from Intrada when they were down to the last 10 copies. Is it my favorite soundtrack? No. But am I glad I got a copy? Yes! So, thank you!

Just wanted to let you know it was your praise that convinced me to give it a shot. The way you described Rocket Gibraltar is the way I describe film music in general to any non-film music lover. Thanks again!
