are some new folks joining the board who bust through the FSM saloon doors with both guns blazing, looking for a fight? I don't know, maybe it is me but I read some of the initial posts and I want to say, settle down there pardner.

I am seeing a lot of effort being put into proving how big their brains and their vocabulary are and if you dare to joke, disagree or challenge their essay length post, you get a hail of bullets aimed at your boots. Damn.

Maybe I'm gettin' too old for this but I came in here with a pretty humble attitude, anxious to learn as much as I could from my fellow film music lovers. I've become a bit of a curmudgeon but I still feel the love. smile I hope.

Anyway. chill out newbies, we're just glad to meet you. You don't have to arm wrestle everyone.

I'll tell you what I'VE noticed... posters whom I've NEVER seen post before, yet their profile states that they've been registered for YEARS! I find it hard to believe these people have been "lurkers" for that long without ever having posted ONCE!
But to answer your question... yeah, I've noticed it as well!

It's not just you, Eee-Dee--you definitely have a point.
I don't see it all THAT often, but there only has to be a few instances to make the conclusion factual.

And I totally get where you are coming from, humble-wise.
I think a lot of us start out that way.
Some still are, some become a little more battle-hardened, some settle in the space between.
Sometimes courtesy and civility can be really difficult, but that's when it matters most.
There are those that say those 2 things are worthless.
I disagree and do my best to prove them wrong, despite my occasional failure.

I could use some fun reading material later so I'll watch this space for when someone finds it.

It's the same guy, or a couple of them at least.
Same m.o. just altered slightly. Very sociopathic.
They appear, they get banned, they come back.
I always think of the "A Bugs Life" mantra - "They come, they eat, they leave!"

Hakuna matana , Happy 4th everyone!

It's mentally exhausting in some instances. I've really cut back my posting these last few years as a result. I'm tired of everything leading to a keyboard fight. Now I typically make jokes or one-off comments and split before it gets ugly.

Well put Oct. I think most are still humble as you say. It's when you ride in with that bravado that things become prickly. I find that often that courtesy and civility is difficult but do prevail.

Tell me then, aint got time to go hunting or wading thru 10 s*** w*** threads. smile

Is it just me or....these people who do ambiguous clickbait headings that could be about anything, edw??! wink

Iam too suspicious. I always smell multiple log ons.
I think the bonkers nutters realise many have them on ignore because nobody replies to their posts. Surely there couldnt be that many nutters tho?

Well I first joined this forum about 15 years ago (3 names ago) it was an incredibly augmentative place, really heated debates, well slanging matches really. I think the place has calmed down a lot, all the nutters seem to have gone (who was that guy from Texas, name something like TJWalsh, he stropped off, thank god). I'm mostly over this side of the forum now, as hardly anything I'm interested in is released these days. There's a lot of quite humorous posts now & things are lighter than they used to be. We're all getting older.

ed - Must admit that I don't know who these conflictive newbies are. Maybe they're posting on threads I don't read. Care to give us a cryptic crossword clue?

Certainly, as others are pointing out, the nature of the board has changed over the years, and a lot of the regular posters from fifteen years ago have gone, but there's still a hard core of old dinosaurs like m'self just repeating the same old stuff again and again, only with fewer words.

So, who are these new stirrer-uppers? I'll wade in there with my walking stick blazing and show them a thing or two. I'm dying for an old-style brawl.

Maybe they'll mellow with time.

It's like catnip if I see a new thread with lots of responses. Usually it's just something that a lot of people want to respond to, matched with good timing. But sometimes it's a rumble!
