Yeah, this was also a big nostalgic score from my childhood. I'd snap one up in a second. Creepy stuff

It's always amazed me that this one hasn't been released yet, or at least a story behind its hold up. Horror scores are good sellers, Lalo Schifrin is a popular old school A list composer. It's a well known, popular title AND sequel score too. Very strange.

Yes Jeff, the Quartet release, which greatly improved the original Aleph issue, with actual film score tracks, original LP edits and superior sound, was a fast sell-out and goes for some crazy prices now. I hope Quartet negotiated the sequel score rights when they bagged the original score.

Remember reading an interview with Schifrin about this in CinemaScore. He had to write a different theme because the film was from a different studio; the harmonic structure is almost identical, but the melody is different. Used some early digital synthesizers too. That's right. The first film was from American International Pictures (AIP) and the second was Dino DeLaurentiis himself and it was distributed by Orion Pictures which is why MGM owns the rights on home video. The best thing of this film is Schifrin's music without a doubt. I'd like to see it released too for that reason but I hate the film itself. Yes for a release of the score and No to the film.

Very strange indeed no CD has been forthcoming and add also his score to : Charley Varrick.
