Buysoundtrax has done this community a real disservice by using the forum in such shabby way.

I can’t support a business that would do this.

What is this about, please?

They released a soundtrack...by Dennis McCarthy.

FOR SHAME!

A soundtrack label releasing a soundtrack to a movie!?!

It's a slippery slope, people!

The real tragedy is that the other thread had to be locked, cos people round here can't follow some basic rules and get so het-up about our wonderful hobby.

I was just about to post in that thread too!

Speaking of Triumph of the Will, are there no Herbert Windt fans in this forum?

This is why we can't have nice things: a minority of people can't control themselves when it comes to certain erroneous perception of politics.

I hope Ford can open a new thread for the new score CD and people behave themselves this time.

I thought this would be another customer service complaint about BSX, but no....
I too think it is going to far to say they used this board "in a shabby way" merely because they promoted their latest film score release.

I do NOT think it is going too far to say, "I refuse to buy this release on principle, because they certainly paid to license the rights for this score from people who I do not want to take part in supporting." I'm in that boat (well, I would be if I had disposable income to spend on this, as that "Soros" cue in particular did sound nice).

I also think it's fair to express disappointment in Dennis McCarthy for taking the job because he certainly was aware of the content, but it's odd to boycott his work going forward and especially odd to say one isn't going to purchase any other recordings made by the City of Prague Philharmonic, especially after James Fitzpatrick made it clear they didn't have much if any idea of what they were signing on to.

They promoted a release the same way they promote any other release.

Truly they have done us wrong.

I've not heard of him or his scores. Well, if I did, I certainly don't recall anything.

At some point a person has to become aware of what they are doing and consider if they want their name and reputation connected with it.

Is my good reputation worth the money? Many people will have to answer this question, that is unless they actually believe in message.

McCarthy's name and reputation name fine. He's done nothing to besmirch either. Everything you've said is based on biased faulty pretenses.

Bet he gets a good laugh at reading these threads if he sees them.

There is a huge difference between Thiumph of the Will and this.

Yes it's a very Controversial film given it's subject matter and we fully understand that and went into this with our eyes open.

The music is quite outstanding and Dennis McCarthy is a very old friend of BSX's and these were the main reasons we elected to release it.

Here is a link to the product page: http://tinyurl.com/yaz72qaa

Here are links to the sound clips if anyone wishes to hear the score in question

We stand by the release and we hope you play the samples and make up your own minds on it.

This is a fair and levelheaded post.

I think it's ludicrous not to expect any kind of reaction to an album announcement like this; i.e. to expect people just posting about the music as if the subject matter and angle of the film didn't exist. There are rules in play here that don't allow politics and religion being discussed, and that's OK. However, I could not see any of that in the thread that was being closed. Just disappointment and frustration in McCarthy's choice of project, in particular, which is a very fair reaction in this case.

OK, it's a political movie. But why should it - and its score! - be banned? I mean, there are many wonderful Morricone scores for left wing Italian political movies from the '70 s and '80s. I'm absolutely anti-communist but I don't think I should ban these scores.

Hopefully, Mueller is investigating the financing of this.

I don't think anyone has ever suggested that it be banned.

I am not a fan of Dinesh D'Souza, but the samples were convincing enough for me to make a purchase.

I appreciate your commitment to releasing scores for films that usually wouldn't see release.
