At the moment, there are too many assumptions, theories, speculations, conjectures, etc about the background of the score to DEATH OF A NATION. In case of doubt, you should always consider factual facts. I ordered this and another CD immediately after receiving the announcement email from BSX. Decisive were only two factors: 1) I have been ordering CDs from BSX since the HELTER SKELTER CD by Mark Snow (2004) and have always been a friend of their CDs ! 2) I am a fan of Dennis McCarthy since V - THE FINAL BATTLE (1984), so now are 34 years! I have all his soundtracks on CD and was never disappointed. So I don't need sound clips to make a purchase decision. I buy his scores blindly. And that was also true for this current. I knew nothing about this pseudo-documentary film when ordering the CD and what I have learned in the last few hours on wikipedia, etc. is, of course, very irritating for me at first. But there are principles in my life that are absolutely valid without exception. One is: Everyone is innocent until his guilt is proven without doubt! Serious accusations and even binding pre-convictions were made here, without objectively factually knowing information about the background of this soundtrack production. Believing something to know is not the same thing as knowing something truly beyond doubt. Here I just have too much faith and too little knowledge. Or trivially said: Here are too many cowboys who blindly shoot in the fog on mysterious shadows without asking. Too few facts and too many emotions. So I ask for facts! Where do you get facts about a soundtrack? Well, the many years of experience shows that BSX usually equips the CDs with an informative booklet. This includes diverse background information about the film and its soundtrack and its composer; sometimes also an interview with the composer himself. Thus, one usually finds his questions about a soundtrack in the respective booklet in detail answered. I don't think this is going to be any different with this in this moment controversial soundtrack. I think it would be a good idea if BSX published the complete contents of the CD booklet about the background of this soundtrack project, in advance in this or the original announcement thread. Then, perhaps, a number of controversial prejudgings and speculations would have become obsolete immediately. And the debate would become more objective by means of secured fundamental information. At least I hope so. In this sense: I hope BSX and Dennis McCarthy live long and prosper!

Things I Like About This Release: 1) That BSX is willing and able to support long time friend Dennis McCarthy with a release of his music. 2) COPP is a fantastic ensemble. Things That I Don't Like About This Release: 1) Everything else.

Scores I also enjoyed apart from their films, that definitely should get a Buysoundtrax release. Birth of a Nation The Eternal Jew Triumph of the Will Jude Suss

Things are just not so simple for me. No matter who composed it or who released it or what their reasoning for participating, I would not support a release of a score for this movie or filmmaker and thereby reward him for his anti-American ideals and propaganda. I bear no ill will toward the composer and distributor beyond disappointment in their participation. To tell you the truth, I've never listened to a McCarthy score that I'm aware of and BSX has never released anything I've had an interest in buying, but I might think twice now. Let's put it this way: nobody made them participate. I'm perhaps most disappointed in Ford if he is a financial participant in BSX given his moral beliefs expressed on social media. You don't get to say "I like the artistry in the design of this MAGA hat" and then offer them for sale if you're against the belief system behind the message and Messengers.
