and with Jackie Sheldon and Renee Kral on vocals, take on "MY FAIR LADY"!

With all this Post Office and my missing/stolen package crap happening, I'm in the perfect mood for this type of hip and jazzy faire.
Enjoy!

Williams also arranged "Manne..That's Gershwin" also on Capitol. A terrific album that should be released on CD.
It's on youtube also.

Yes, pretty cool album. Although not to be confused with the actual soundtrack album!

In the upper left hand corner it says "Un-Original Cast".

He, he...good catch. A funny 'double entendre' term to use. But I think the "unoriginal" cast does well in this case.

My favorite is Shelley Manne and his Men play Checkmate. Great example of their work together

It's good, but not as good as Williams' own rerecorded album.

The number of knockoff albums generated by popular broadway shows in the LP era is truly remarkable.

I love them both. And glad to have both

Actually it's "Jack" Sheldon, trumpeter and sometime singer. He made many recordings on his own as well as some with Chet Baker.

And sometimes actor. He had his own TV series: "Run, Buddy, Run."

He was also a member of the orchestra on the Merv Griffin Show for quite a while.
Great band with Jake Hanna, Plas Johnson, Ray Brown and others.

Yes, it is actually "Jack" Sheldon. Thanks roy. I was just giving the man some youth, like I still like to call John Williams, "Johnny" (as does Spielberg) and I'd sometimes say Jaime or Jaimee Horner. Wonder if anyone ever called Shelly Manne "The Shell Man"? Some people used to call Maestro Mancini "Hank" instead of Henry. Benny Herrmann, Lenny Rosenman, "Sandy" Courage as Goldsmith would call his great friend and orchestrator, Alexander Courage. It's kind of fun, actually. And of course with love and no disrespect to the artists.

Cheers,

Zoobie

P.S. I think Lionel Newman sometimes called his pal John Williams, "Fatty" and he would refer to Jerry Goldsmith as "Gorgeous". Lionel liked to joke, I heard. My buddy Joseph gets "Joey" sometimes and when he was younger, "Jo Jo". I remember when little Ricky Schroeder from THE CHAMP grew up and insisted on being called "Rick". And now please excuse me while I go call my good lady Annie. Good old Annie T. Anne Ticipation. Sweet Dreams everybody.

"Shelly" was already a nickname. His real name is Sheldon. A lots of Sheldons involved in this project! smile
