I know ClassicFM have their public survey but I was wondering about what film music fans thought about which scores would make it in there. So, what are the five scores that you personally think should belong in a hall of fame?

Don't have to be especially well-known, just ones that you think should be in there for whatever reason, whether it's just pure quality or importance to the medium, that kind of thing.

Star Wars is the "Pete Rose" (look him up, non-Americans) or "Eric Cantona" (look him up, Americans) of the Film Score Hall of Fame, and it should NEVER be allowed into that hallowed hall.

I’d say that E.T. and Raiders are way more known than the last two. But in film scoring as known to the general public, Williams stands alone I think.

Just speaking for Britain, I think maybe Ennio and John Barry have a couple of tunes in the culture (unless we count Barry’s Bond themes individually). Same maybe for Horner and Vangelis. Shore has LOTR. But perhaps the likes of Zimmer and Elfman have none, beloved as they are.

And as for Jerry Goldsmith... his two best contenders are both thought by most of the British public to be something else. People think his Star Trek score is a TV theme tune and that The Omen was scored by Carl Orff.

Oh dear. Well, I'm fully aware of who the first, um, "gentleman" is. And you, like your buddy Onyabirri, have really got some kind of weird vendetta against Star Wars. I don't get WHY exactly, but you do. There have been films I've disliked but never to such a bizarre, driven degree.

I guess that's something you need to work out...
