BITE THE BULLET is one of my favorite North scores! The main theme is used in various guises with great effect. For some reason, this North score gets little attention. Agreed, and not all of it is on the CD.

Agreed, and not all of it is on the CD. I'll bite, what's missing exactly? Ford A. Thaxton This is just the two I can recall: The cue in the film at the start of the race before Badlands is not The Race. It is similar to the second half of The Race but not the same. I know there's a lot of repeated tracking of music in the film, but to my ear, this is not one of them. The Race is used in the scene where Clay and the Englishman race and is tracked in toward the end of the film after they get their horses back from the escaped prisoners, but it is not what's used in the film prior to Badlands. Also, when they say farewell to Miss Jones after they get the horses back, I don't recall that cue anywhere on the CD. I know you produced this, Ford, so if you can provide further insight or correct me, I'm not a stubborn know-it-all, but particularly the former I'm almost certain is missing. The latter I believe as well but feel less certain. Larry

BITE THE BULLET was my first conscious encounter with the music of Alex North. Some long time ago I caught the movie on TV. The music was very good, and at first I thought it may have been written by Jerry Goldsmith... it turned out to be Alex North, who became one of my favorite film composers.

After Spartacus, these two are my favorite North scores. Two of my all time Main Titles. Interestingly, the Main Title for The Devil's Brigade on the CD is not the same as the Main Title in the film. Is it someplace else on the CD? I have looked and cannot find it. I was over the moon when the Rat Patrol material came out. Yet another version of the Main Title. It is the same recording but they shortened the credit sequence and therefore removed a large section from the middle of the main title for the movie.

Despite being a North fan since the 1980s -- and THE DEVIL'S BRIGADE is one of my favorites -- somehow the release of BITE THE BULLET passed me by. After listening to the Youtube clip, I ordered a used copy for a quite reasonable price. I absolutely love it, so thanks, Zooba for the head's up.
