I recently upgraded my home theater system to 4k UHD -- and proudly purchased an OPPO 203 Player. OPPO had a reputation as one of the top high-end home theater and audio equipment manufacturers.
Quite a surprise that they've announced they are ceasing manufacture of all of their products -- with the exception of their cell phone division:
There has been much speculation as to the reasons behind this decision. I love my 203 player -- and Cambridge Audio is continuing to sell an OPPO 203-based player -- but parts, firmware, etc., will eventually become unsupported.
Yikes! I missed this post. Had been saving up my pennies for an Oppo upgrade. (Sigh!) Other brands do play SACD (my chief interest), but I'll have to research their audio capabilities.
That is quite the expensive piece of machinery. I don't doubt that it is high quality but I can see why it might have a hard time on the market. I personally don't see the need to increase the size of my screen beyond what works fine for standard HD. And even if I was going to get something to support UHD and 4K, I would get a PS4 pro or something similar. It costs less than that and has the ability to play the games.
