As far as I know, there has never been a release of this Conti Score for Stallone's PARADISE ALLEY on CD. The music isn't bad and I remember working at a Movie Theater when the film was first released. I enjoyed the story of the three Carboni brothers and I think it was the first time I saw Armand Assante in a movie. He played a nice layered character as the crippled brother.

Would you shell out $19.95 for a release on CD of the Original LP Album? I might put out the $19.95 for an expanded or more complete release of the score or if it was coupled with another unreleased Conti. Please share your thoughts on this interesting unreleased to CD Bill Conti Score. Thanks.

And now, enjoy Stallone singing the Main Theme's Song, "Too Close to Paradise". Well, try. It's kind of grown on me over the years.

Released on CD in Germany with the title of the film in German and everything. That just makes it about 10 % more fun, to have VORHOF ZUM PARADIES on my shelf instead of PARADISE ALLEY, and Titel Song Gesungen von Sylvester Stallone on the cover instead of Title Song Performed by Sylvester Stallone.
I had to shell out only about 8 € (what, 10 u.s. dollars?) in a second hand shop in Paris, France. I know I was lucky. Had I not found it, I would gladly shell out 20 dollars for a re-issue of the CD. As zooba said, either complete or coupled with another Conti, would be good.
The title song by Sly has not grown on me, except for comedic purposes. I once shared a link to the song for a facebook dude of mine and he had to reboot his computer. Sylvester is no singer, I tell you.

I already have the LP. However, I would pick up an expanded CD if one came out...:-)

I like the main theme - and the song, too.

Is Stallone a great singer? No. But he doesn't have to be.

As many singers and actors before he does what he can and gives the song the kind of authenticity a real singer would not have been able to. A perfect voice would have not worked for this.

It´s easy to make fun of, especially in the time of the internet. And Stallone has had his share of egomania which made him a target, maybe deservedly so.

But this song? Beautiful. The score: Conti is always good if not great.

I went on a shopping trip around Europe with Jason Bourne years ago and I saw this CD in a shop in Brussels (or Berlin, or Bordeaux...he drives very fast!! In fact, I'd jumped out at the lights, cos Jase - to his mates - doesn't really do stopping, at ANY junctures).
Anyway, it was in a shop, but it looked like a boot and when I totted up the score tracks, it didn't look very long and it was about 15 euros, so I passed.
But yeah, someone expand it and release it and put it with another Conti and I'm your man.

Never seen PA, Conti should be pretty good - liked his work around 70s this should be fun on the level of Rocky probably not, pity Staloone's singing - Sylvester looking like a pimp, cool though. I will watch the film, thanks.

Never seen the film or heard the score, but count me intrigued. It's from a very fertile period in Conti's career.

I had no idea Sly sung the title song. I thought singing was his brother Frank's domain.

Frank should have sung the title song for PA...

This is a true oddity of a film and score. The real standout is the Too Close To Paradise instrumental by Conti. Stallone's vocal is like a B side. And whenever I'm seemingly stuck between a bad situation and the promise of hope, the lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager and Bruce Roberts jump around in my skull. It's the kind of vocal that I'd imagine Elvis would've sang the same way if he'd been able. (And thank the Almighty that Sly didn't sing over the end titles to Rocky.) But I think the real gem on this is Tom Waits' (Meet Me in) Paradise Alley. I'm not a fan of his, but that song does seem to get to the heart of the film.
