Don't believe I've ever read a Gruenwald story I ever liked--unless he did the original Hawkeye miniseries, which I liked a lot.
When was his Squadron Supreme story published?
Squadron Supreme was published in the mid-80s. I believe it was one of the "maxi-series" instead of "mini-series", as the story was told over 12 issues plus a Captain America tie-in. For me, Gruenwald was more miss than hit, but I enjoyed some of his Captain America run, and I also liked his Quasar run, but Squadron Supreme is head and shoulders above his other work. The story is reprinted in trade, and should be easy to track down. Give it a try!
Michael Scorefan, I trust and respect your taste, but I'm just too snake bit* to read any more Gruenwald after having slogged though his "Society of Serpents" tpb, which I promptly threw away after reading.
Other than Stern's Avengers, Marvel from 1984 on(!) just doesn't do it for me.
