Does anyone else--besides Sean Nethery and I--remember the Star Trek newspaper comic strip? I happened upon it while on a family vacation in summer 1982, and proceeded to clip out each day's strip during the course of that vacation.

I don't recall this comic strip, though I'm very impressed how accurately they rendered TMP Enterprise. Something artists never got right in TOS adaptions.

Speaking of design, have the black-and-white clad security guards ever appeared in any Trek incarnations after TMP?

They appeared in Star Trek III as Kirk runs into Spock's sealed quarters. After that, the football player security guards vanished.

Costume designs in TMP were hideous!

Modeled after 1940's football helmet?

I never liked them. I mean, were they forced to wear that all day? Did the Enterprise really need these guys armored up constantly? Rough ship...

It's things like Red Grange football helmets, jammies-as-uniforms, and a whole slew of other deficiencies that keep FSMers coming back to ST-TMP.

Funny thing, the same costume designer worked on WOK and the wardrobe was much improved. Then again he did return for SFS right? That's where we got little Dutch boy Chekov.

Really? I must dig out ST I-VI (minus IV) and take a closer look at the costume design, as well as all the other things you boys are so keen at ponting out.
