It's an enjoyable CD, although I prefer the other title on it "Private Parts" (which I guess is an imaginary film score).

Wow, what memories! I bought this CD many years ago form Intrada, when they had a walk-in shop on Vallejo Street in San Francisco. Still treasure it a lot (both the CD and my visit then).

I think the alternate title was The Red Baron.

Nope, it's an actual film from 1972, directed by Paul Bartel.

Why is it called "Private Parts - An Orchestral Fantasy"?

Probably because it's a specially arranged concert suite of the score.

Now that you mention it, seems like there have been other re-arranged scores with a qualifying subtitle (maybe something by Herrmann). Still seems confusing on a soundtrack CD release.

I have the 1975 Delos LP of these scores picked up some years back in a market in the U.K.. I always thought the opening theme from "The Red Baron" as it was known here in Ireland was really evocative of the sense of flying. This also led me on a path to seek out more terrific Hugo Friedhofer scores
