I'm really diggin this one. It took me a few listens but it gets better with each listen and I'm discovering new things every time. With Red Sparrow, The Nutcracker (yes, I like that one too…) and this one I think he had a strong year. Here's hoping they ask him to back for 'Maleficent 2'.

I can't imagine a duller, more confused movie than this one, a movie that has very little to do with fantastic beasts and in which Grindelwald commits very few crimes. I think the lack of dramatic inertia in the story has carried over to Howard's score, which is very professionally done but which, of necessity, accompanies a lot of ominous talk about things that might happen, but which largely don't. The movie is, to me, a complete dud; the score is a good deal better, but it can only do so much.
