Opinions please on Tadlow's recording of The Betsy. I've only heard the lovely main title....worth getting?

Of course its worth it.. Barry's one of the best at recycling music the Betsy proves that how elegant & laid-back it is, the main theme is gorgeous its recycled into other cues that are so sweet an effective - hardly repetitive but really romantic inventive Barry. Tadlow take a lot of pride in the quality of their scores this sounds stunning, yeah, grab it.

"The Betsy" is one of the greatest re-recordings of all-time, and the score itself is in my top five favorite John Barry works. The music couldn't possibly be more beautiful, and it's magnificently performed. If you're a Barry fan, it's an absolute must.

I'll support the earlier replies in suggesting you obtain this score. As with all the re-recordings it isn't a perfect representation of the score but it's so good that, even if you know the original, you'll forgive the differences especially after a few plays.

And being a 2013 recording the sound is truly magnificent ... so, whilst I would love to have an official release of the 1978 OST, this fills the gap and does so wonderfully.

Amongst 40 years of John Barry scores this one doesn't rate that highly for me but that's only because I prefer many of his others. I recall seeing the film many years ago (and would like to see it again, despite it being rather poor) and as usual (no: as always) with a John Barry score the music fits the visuals like a glove. Yes, there are similarities with other JB scores, especially of that era, such as King Kong (1976), and that main theme is a pure JB melody. But, so what, it's a great way to spend 46'28".

I hadn't played this recording for more than 2 years but this thread urged me to choose it - just finished. A wonderful way to end the day.
