FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9

STAR WARS---Lucasfilm is developing a second STAR WARS live-action tv series which will be a prequel to ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY. Diego Luna, who is returning as Cassian Andor, said, “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply."

LOKI---Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki in an untitled Marvel Studios/Walt Disney Studios miniseries for the Disney Plus streaming service.

JONNY QUEST---Chris McKay (THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE) will direct the Warner Bros. live-action movie based on the animated tv series that ran on ABC from 1964-1965.

GODZILLA VS. KONG---Jessica Henwick (GAME OF THRONES) has joined the sequel cast in an undisclosed role.

GAME OF THRONES---Denise Gough and Sheila Atim are in talks to star in the HBO prequel series.

WATCHMEN---Jeremy Irons will play Ozymandias in the HBO series.

HOLD BACK THE STARS---John Boyega and Letitia Wright will star in this movie based on the sci fi romance novel.

TREADSTONE---Brian J. Smith (SENSE8) and Jeremy Irvine (WARHORSE) will star in the USA Network Jason Bourne spinoff tv series.

ROCK HUDSON---untitled biomovie underway with Greg Berlanti as the writer/director.

DuPONT---Mark Ruffalo stars in this movie as attorney Robert Bilott, who filed an environmental lawsuit against DuPont for chemical pollution.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK---Lionsgate Television is in talks to develop a sequel series.

TRIVIA---in THE UNTOUCHABLES, Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner) pushed mobster Frank Nitti (Billy Drago) off a roof after Nitti admitted he killed fellow Untouchable Jimmy Malone (Sean Connery), "I said that your friend died squealing like a stuck Irish pig! Now you think about that when I beat the rap."
In reality, Nitti was sent to prison with Al Capone for income tax evasion. Eleven years after he was released from prison, Nitti and members of his Chicago gang were indicted for trying to extort money from movie studios including 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures.
Nitti then committed suicide by shooting himself near a passing train in a train yard, possibly because he was facing a second prison term or he was suffering from terminal cancer. The coroner jury's report stated that Nitti, 'committed suicide while temporarily insane and in a despondent frame of mind.'

Billy Drago did a really tremendous job in the film of making Nitti so memorably creepy and vile.

I quite enjoy most of the Marvel films. I hope that these new mini-series aren't meant to tie-in too heavily with the films, as i can barely get to see those in the proper order. And i'm not really interested in following them on TV.

A prequel to a Star Wars prequel featuring that character whose only memorable trait was being moody and having a jacket ALMOST like Han Solo's in Empire. It looks like Disney have pulled all the films but are making even more hours of pointless prequels on TV. I guess at least it's easy to avoid if you don't get the subscription service.

I liked Bruce Gordon's version of Nitti a lot on the original TV series.

JONNY QUEST---Chris McKay (THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE) will direct the Warner Bros. live-action movie based on the animated tv series that ran on ABC from 1964-1965.

Thanks as always for the update!

Lemme guess, since it was one of the top 50 "Most Racist Shows On TV", the new Jonny Quest will feature, "Hadji" (will they even use that name?) as the real brains of the group, likely sans turban/Nehru jacket; Race and Dr. Quest will be, maybe...?

You're thinking to small. JONNY will be recast as an Indian boy!

It should be 100% tongue-in-cheek. The show was cheesy as all get out and if they try doing a serious, live-action Jonny Quest movie, it'll already be a joke. They'd be better off going for it.

Perhaps that's just my opinion though.

Actually, I would love it to be not only 100% true to the spirit of the original series, I would really be thrilled if it were a 1960's period piece. Complete with Russian and Asian spies, evil masterminds and fez wearing mystics controlling various monsters.

Okay, maybe dial back on the antics with the dog...

Land of the Lost was a comedy and it was a huge failure. A more serious take may have still failed, but it would be been more enjoyable to fans at least.

Jonny Quest remade in live action, but taken seriously? Sign me up.

Yeah, I hate parody remakes. While the series was produced for kids it was meant to be taken seriously.

I don't mean a Land of the Lost-style movie. I'm talking about something more akin to RoboCop or They Live where the action's plentiful, but there's also satire in the mix to let you know it's not 100% serious. The '60s period idea is perfect. I wouldn't want to see a modern version of Jonny Quest.

In any case, I can only imagine this being a huge flop if it ever manages to get made. It'll probably end up as some Jonny Quest/generic modern action movie mashup, thereby pleasing no one.

Thank god UNTOUCHABLES was made in the 80's, before the "historical accuracy police" came into being!

  • STAR WARS---Lucasfilm is developing a second STAR WARS live-action tv series which will be a prequel to ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY.

Disney Plus? More like Desperation Plus. Will Captain Andor have a sidekick who dies, only to get a sidekick prequel series of his own? It's like an ouroboros with the tail eating its head.

  • JONNY QUEST---Chris McKay (THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE) will direct the Warner Bros. live-action movie based on the animated tv series that ran on ABC from 1964-1965.

Would a live action Clutch Cargo have animated mouths with extra slobber? Makes me wish Speed Racer spoke with flapping, off-timed jaws.

The only parody remake that even remotely worked was the BRADY BUNCH. Specifically the second one with Jonny Quest himself, Tim Matheson, as Carol Brady's ex-husband, "Roy." The Bradys were virtually the same, and Roy's asides and insidious nature were a great complement to that.

It does lose points for the inclusion of Rosie O'Donnell, though I will forgive that but never, never the casting of O'Donnell as Betty Rubble in The Flintstones movie. Betty was supposed to be attractive, not Rosie O'Donnell.

It's really to late for a Jonny Quest movie if they are going for nostalgia. Most who grew up watching the series don't go to the theater anymore, are in assisted living homes or are dead!
