Because I think straight men would freak over this targeted commercial. Anyway, I haven't had any sort of televison hook-up in a dozen years, by choice, so I've been out of touch regarding styles used in commercials by advertisers. Evidentally I'm way out of touch. A friend sent me a copy of this Gain Detergent commercial in an e-mail and I must say, it's the most 'over the top' commercial I've ever seen. I think. Besides the obviousness of the entire thing, why would advertisers think that the average straight, married man with a family has the time and/or, inclination, to go to the gym? And I'm not even addressing the look on Dad's face, and what the kids do to Dad's article of clothing after seeing Dad's reactions. I just wonder WHO this commercial is intended for, and also, WHO 'green-lighted' the thing. Don Draper would (probably) never have approved this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYKy7aW_a28

I clicked on it too, and even though I like SpongeBob, I'm boringly straight. I don't know, it didn't really seem that bad to me, just typical of today's commercials. I mean, they made it pretty clear it was about laundry detergent. I can see how some folks would be put off by it, of course. I didn't think it was any worse than the TP commercials about "enjoy the go", and the personal sanitation, feminine hygiene products, etc. On a musical aside, I guess as long as there are ads and films/shows with pranky situations, pizzicato will never go away...

Kind of a stupid ad. (Heck, I didn’t even know what that was at their age.) And that object barely looks like it’s been worn. Not even stained with... whatever. (But the dad must be straight, because it’s basic white, not even a designer color.) Not that I would know about such things...
