Barry wisely dropped the vocals from the JB7.

Jerry Goldsmith didn't have to sing for his supper because he just went to Outback.

Treat yourself to a Bloomin' Onion as soon as possible!

Oh, and your post is #189:

If Wikipedia is to be believed, Edward Shearmur was a choirboy...

Harry GW too...

And John Frizzell.

Joe Jackson (Tucker & Mike's Murder) is one.

Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator) is another.

Antonio Carlos Jobim (The Adventurer) is up there with Legrand in his song style.

Danny Elfman was Oingo Boingo before Batman.

Elfman was also literally a singing waiter for a time. I can't remember the article, but remember Cassandra Peterson saying that she worked with him at the same restaurant.

Add another classic guy.

Rod McKuen (he with the scratchy voice and so many haunting songs) sang "Jean" in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) and also sang "I'll Catch The Sun" in Joanna (1968).

Please don't forget the late Sir Richard Rodney Bennett. He could do it all - beautifully (IMHO.) The anniversary of his passing is coming December 24.

I seem to recall George Fenton "singing" at the oscars one year(shudder).

I thought his performance of "Cry Freedom" was perfectly adequate. He sings it on the album as well.

Fenton was also an actor when younger, and even had a recurring role on the British soap Emmerdale!

Doesn't Marc Shaiman sing?

Legrand used to sing a lot on tv appearances back in the 70s; you know, so he could appear on tv and play his music.

I don't think I'd want an entire album of Legrand vocals, but it's charming in microscopic doses.

Some of my favorites:

David Foster (and Richard Page) - Who's Gonna Love You Tonight:

Jonathan Elias - The Chant Movement

And one guilty pleasure:
Mark Mancina - Follow Your Dreams

How about Burt Bacharach? He's released a few albums in his time on which he's sang vocals. Not very well I add, but he has a go!

As I've mentioned here before, Dave Grusin belted out his own main title song, "The Wind Has Got A Memory," for the 1968 western, A MAN CALLED GANNON.

He does indeed!

Thanks, Paul.

Elliot Goldenthal could be mentioned too, although it's more 'vocalizations' than singing, really.

Every week on The Two Ronnies for a full season I think.
