...but if you haven’t got this it’s well worth considering. A lot of the atmosphere of this classic British horror film is derived from the song track, which superbly mixes traditional folk songs with others that sound traditional. And Christopher Lee sings!
I think the film and score are absolutely brilliant. But I consider myself a Wicka Wanka in that I've even done the locations tour and took a photo of what remains of mini-wickie's leg-stumps, and had a pint in The Green Man.
Love the music, but I think this is one case where you HAVE to know and love the film. The score is so integral to it all.
I do have the first Silva release. Did I or did I not remember reading that some of the elements were lost and had to be re-done, like the Leigh Phillips doing the missing synths on DAMNATION ALLEY? Maybe I'm misremembering remembering. But I'm not such a Wanka that I'm going to check those details at this time of night.
WICKA - Superb film, all the more for being shot under such difficult circumstances and still coming out like the winner of Masterchef's Dogs' Dinners. The haphazardly-edited music adds to the unique effect. And I'm not saying that just because I'm a Wicka Wanka.
Support this release or forever be a wanka. Or not as the case may be.
