I have many love theme favourites from the 80s (and some from the 90s), but I have a feeling there are fewer tracks on soundtrack albums called "Love Theme from..." after the year 2000.
Love Theme from Something in the Air (2011) by Soren Hyldgaard (on his compilation CD 'Eye of the Eagle') Far From the Madding Crowd Love Theme (2015) by Craig Armstrong Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Armstrong & Rahman has got a 'Love Theme' track too.
Yeah, the era of the cinematic "Love Theme" is long past. Even those dippy Nicholas Sparks movies will usually have a pop or country song cue up whenever a love scene or montage occurs.

I am a professional pianist in LA. Films and television used to be a great source for love themes but no more. Playing a current song is near impossible because of a lack of melodic lines. Just by looking at the sheet music, when there is some, it's obvious the lyric came first and the music must adjust to fit them all in. I can only play the same note so many ways. I have a friend who owned a music store in San Francisco which closed due to the internet taking over. He told me the last piece of sheet that sold well was "My Heart Will Go On".
I kind of noticed this, but didn't know the right way to explain it. There has been a loss of great "love" themes in the past twenty years. Why? your guess is as good as mine. Maybe, no one's in the mood for an old fashioned love story any more. Or the tragedy.
I think a lot of scores still have love themes...they just aren't always explicitly labeled as such...maybe composers nowadays just don't feel the need to be as literal?
Very underrated and often forgotten... JW's love theme from The Terminal.
This ! Absolutely, a fantastic melody, which together with "The Tale of Viktor Navorsky" makes two in one album.
Back to love themes: agreed also with HTTYD's "Romantic Flight" and EPISODE II's "Across the stars" ROMEO AND JULIET ("Forbidden Love") by Abel Korzienowsky is quite beautiful Is "Wong Chia Chi's theme" in LUST CAUTION a Love theme (haven't watched the movie)? Perhaps it is a product of the (sensibilities of) our time. I remember Desplat saying he wouldn't splash a love theme in BENJAMIN BUTTON for the first meeting of Benjamin and Daisy (in an old fashion way, as I would think, something like "The Chairman's Watlz" from MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA), and the result is indeed more subtle. As for the labeling, indeed, why isn't there a "Love Theme from the Shape of Water" track?
"Lando's Closet" from SOLO basically beats all the competition this year...
I'm surprised not to think of anything on the top of my head by Thomas Newman here.
Interesting how (quickly) this thread's morphed from the original question about a lack of recent tracks being called "Love Theme" to a discussion of recent actual love themes irrespective of their track name...
Goldsmith had a wonderful love theme from Timeline. I linked below to the exact time when it starts in this suite. (I also like Brain Tyler's love theme from the same film.)

First Breath ended his post with "What are some of the post-2000 love themes?" I think everyone is following along nicely.
