Some interesting issues are raised here. For myself, I just admire the lovely film and urge everyone to see it on the big screen. No original score, alas! I was surprised to hear two bits of Berlioz amid the source music.

See it on the big screen.

It's pretty good on the small screen too. Best film I've seen this year.

I wish I had seen it on the big screen, as the cinematography is gorgeous. But regardless, it is one of the best movies I've seen this year. Worth a 2nd viewing for me.

Pretty good film. No doubt better in big format (lots of deep focus photography and details in the background here), but you get the gist on the telly. Not Cuaron's best film by any stretch of the imagination, and surprisingly lacking in intrigue, but for what is, it's good.

Do you really think "intrigue" was what Cuaron was after? What the film offers is a remarkably total immersion in his family life (not neglecting the sociopolitical context),rendering the two late scenes of high drama (no spoilers here!) all the more effective, because we have come to really care about these people.

watched on NETFLIX.

Question:

The imagery was so sharp it looked like video (or film when DNRed.)
I know it is showing in 70mm in theaters, but perhaps this was shot at 48 frames per second ; the technique Peter Jackson has used?
Thanks!
bro

p.s. started slow, ended strong. reminded me a bit of BOYHOOD in that the experience builds slowly and is very affecting by the finale.
