Here's the timeline from another Polar Express thread:
"Truth be told we tried to get the rights 2 years ago and were told another company snatched them up. That was in late 2013. Nothing happened for the 10th anniversary in 2014, so I had assumed it would be out this year, but nothing. These things happen." (MV, 24/12/15)
"I can say if it was easy it would be out by now." (Roger Feigelson 24/12/15)
Cool, the news sounds better and better. I can't wait until the "Oh my God, my Holy Grail finally released!", transitioned into "To many F'ing cross-fades!"
Every Christmas season now I wait and wait, in the hopes that SOME label will release Silvestri's masterpiece of a Christmas score. Disappointment again it seems...
I feel the same way about the Conti ROCKY scores, it is frustrating but don't give up hope, THE POLAR EXPRESS could still happen.

Yep. I'm already disappointed in what it's not gonna have.

Well, I've just paid £5 for a used copy of the original song/measly score edition off eBay, cos I never ever picked it up (I have a copy of the score CD promo that I've played in the main). So if it does come out in their next batches...I did my bit
I've always preferred his score to A CHRISTMAS CAROL over this one, in the Xmas stakes. He veers too much towards EDWARD SCISSORHANDS in POLAR EXPRESS for my liking. But it's still very festive and enjoyable, despite the temp tracking.
I didn't necessarily want this score until I read all of the desiring, wanting, hand-wringing, lamenting on this thread. Is it any good? Who knows? But now I must have it!

It's even better if you've never heard EDWARD SCISSORHANDS
Is it Believe that people think sounds like Scissorhands? If I was going to compare it to a modern "snowy" sounding thing I'd say Star of Bethlehem from Home Alone. Or just acknowledge that they all sound like "Christmas".

The main theme sounds more like the finale to Sibelius’s fifth symphony. But that Thor’s hammer motif has been copied and used numerous times. It’s a great motif so hardly surprising!

Never got Edward Scissorhands from the Polar Express. As far as this or A Christmas Carol I like both equally.
