We will know it turned up in The Battle on the River Neretva and the 1991 remake of CAPE FEAR.

However I seem to recall seeing a movie on pay cable back in the early 90's that used the music as well.
It was some sort of thriller.

I seem to recall the composer credited had some sort of German sounding name, the film might have even been shot and produced in Germany.

It wasn't a knock off, I even SEEM to recall Herrmann was credited in the End Titles.

Does This ring any bells with anyone?

Ford I seem to recall a thriller from the late 80s called PAINT IT BLACK that had the fanfare from Torn Curtain as part of it's score. I remember thinking it sounded out of place. Not sure if Herrmann was even credited but could this perhaps be the one you're thinking of?

Amazing that someone got Paint It Black (1989), a pretty obscure film. On IMDB there is the music credit for Fanfare for Torn Curtain. The composer listed is Jurgen Knieper. The most well known actor listed is Martin Landau.

Extensive Herrmann library music is also tracked into "Obsessions" a Dutch film:

Not sure if any tracks are from "Torn Curtain."

Bill Wrobel posted a YouTube breakdown of the sources for "Obsessions":

I also recall reading about a hardcore gay porn film with S/M overtones that re-used a bunch of Herrmann's music. What would Benny have thought?
