... who would you take? Give it some thought and join in.
My choice is easy: Steve Lukather from Toto. Loved his voice since the beginning. He has the subtle light touch when the song calls for it and he can belt it out in an instant. He also has amazing control of his pitch, which I find to be just as important as raw expressiveness. Very versatile. It doesn't hurt that he's a good-looking fellow, either. Something for the ladies. He's been sporting a somewhat unfortunate Van Dyke for some years now, but I won't hold that against him!
Steve Balsamo, Tommy Körberg, Jussi Björling, people like that. Even Josh Groban now and then. I've sung for a few years myself, even been tutored in it, and I lean towards musical-type, anthemic ranges and styles rather than rock or pop -- although that's fun to sing too.
Yes, most amusing phelps. Possibly a contender for a number! Cut corners here at your peril with the swarms of uber pedants lurking to pounce!! Go on, you knew perfectly well who i meant! Git.
Growing up listening to rock and roll I will go with Lou Gramm from Foreigner or Freddy Mercury from Queen which I am surprised no one has mentioned yet.
