... who would you take?
Give it some thought and join in.

My choice is easy: Steve Lukather from Toto.
Loved his voice since the beginning.
He has the subtle light touch when the song calls for it and he can belt it out in an instant.
He also has amazing control of his pitch, which I find to be just as important as raw expressiveness.
Very versatile.
It doesn't hurt that he's a good-looking fellow, either. Something for the ladies. big grin
He's been sporting a somewhat unfortunate Van Dyke for some years now, but I won't hold that against him!

Steve Balsamo, Tommy Körberg, Jussi Björling, people like that. Even Josh Groban now and then. I've sung for a few years myself, even been tutored in it, and I lean towards musical-type, anthemic ranges and styles rather than rock or pop -- although that's fun to sing too.

I'd like a voice that I like, that would last.

I can't think of a man's voice that has maintained qualities that I have liked as long as Sue Raney's:

from the late 50's, when she was in her late teens:

from 2006, when she was 66.

(And she's still singing, with just a TINY loss of accuracy, at age 76 in 2016 https://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Lady-Sue-Raney/dp/B01M3Q3XOP/ref=tmm_msc_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
Amazing.)

So I'd have to take hers.

And may I say that this is an excellent question, as I have always come to expect when O-man posts.

Did John Denver's voice hold up? I might have wanted his, but if it went away, maybe not.

Growing up listening to rock and roll I will go with Lou Gramm from Foreigner or Freddy Mercury from Queen which I am surprised no one has mentioned yet.
