I'd have to assume that between the adaptation of previous Williams themes and the prevalence of a new Williams theme, Powell's score would not have been eligible in the first place.
On the other hand, how Menken's score for the live-action Beauty and the Beast was declared eligible last year still baffles me.
Was there a "For Your Consideration" version of the score put out this year with extra or alternate tracks, like with TFA and the other recent films? I don't recall seeing mention of it anywhere.
