I've owned the soundtrack ablum for Deathwish for years, but last night I watched Deathwish on DVD and was really taken at how different the music used in the actual film was...and how good it was!
Some of the tracks appeared as heard on the soundtrack album and some were sorta stripped down (like the Main Title) and sounded better (a bit more jazz and less fusion)...and lots of great solo fender rhodes playing by Herbie.
I'd sure like to hear the entire original score to this one!
Nice Subject line spelling. Perhaps the labels would perk up if it was corrected to, say
Herbie Handcock's Deathswish
Was Handcock a Freudian slip, Zip?
And what's a death swish?
Intentionally trying to stir up a bit of attention.
I dropped 5O US $'s on the One Way release of "Death Wish" last year. It sounded miles better than the Legend Cd, so I was pleased, but to have the score as recorded for the film would be fantastic!
It's a Paramount film, and very few scores have made it out of those vaults, so I'm not holding my breath.
"Death swish" was a swing at the spelling in this posts Subject: Herbie Hancock's Deathwsish.
If you see the film again, look for the scene where Bronson puts a bullet in the American flag. The flag is painted on the back of a mugger's leather jacket, but the imagery had me wondering if it was done intentionally.
