Varese did release a super 4 cd set featuring music from various episodes from the acclaimed TV series. But Iam surprised that the with the exception of the main title theme they never released the music from the PILOT episode (which is normally a norm for soundtrack issues) I really liked the Laurence Rosentahll score from the pilot episode titled "The Curse of The Jackal" which featured a lovely arabian theme and ethnic music along the lines of Lawrence of Arabia. This never made it to the cd series. I wonder why? I would love to hear this score as I understand, this was later reprised for another epiosde (one involving young Catherine Zeta Jones ) and the Lawrence of Arabia character.

One of my favourite cues is the 8 years old Indy arriving in Cairo for the first time and the ethnic music played is I undertsnad a Roenthal incorporation. The actual source vocals from another cue were taken off RAIDERS score( BTW)-The one showing the locals singing during the digging scenes.

I hope we get this score released one day and that Varese looks at doing another batch of music cd for this series as there more music from other episodes that was never released.

Any opinions on this anyone?
Amer

The reason this pilot score hasn't been released to date is very simple, it was the only score for the series recorded in the USA with AFM players, NEW USAGE PAYMENTS would have to have been paid to them in order to release it.

After the pilot, the scores for the series were recorded in Germany and other places that didn't have any new usage fees.

It's a great score that I hope someday sees the light of day.

Despite the fact that the show never gained much popularity outside of the teen-aged Indy episodes, this series had some of the best television music ever composed. Right up there with Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, the original Star Trek, Stu Philip's 70's sci-fi scores and all of Goldsmith's 70's TV work. There is so much substance, intricacy, melodicism and fun in these scores, even with McNeely was channeling Williams big time.

Paging Joe Esrey....

I'm here, Thor! I've just been running around and without my computer a few days, which is why I've not posted on anything until just a few moments ago.

Yes, we need more Young Indiana Jones Chronicles scores, blast it...

(I'll return to this subject with something more substantial, I think.)

www.epguides.com has the Young Indy episode listing, but only in the feature-length versions.
www.tvtome.com has the original episode listing, including the unaired episodes.
