Got my BBC America catalog today with the news of their relase of a multi-disc collection of THE SAINT(w/Roger Moore). Disgracefully, they are only releasing the COLOUR episodes! Fans of THE SAINT know that the b & w episodes are the only ones worth having. Why? Because they were superb adaptions from the original,classic Leslie Charteris stories. The colour episodes jettisoned the Charteris stories and attempted to turn Simon Templar into James Bond. The results were a disaster.

However, Moore is at his "tongue and cheek" best in these and I own every set (7 I believe). I love the witty humour! And let's face it, take what you can get! If they ever do release the B&W episodes, the colour ones will be on sale at eBay only for $500 a set. Get em now!
You have to hand it to Moore, he does ALL his own fighting. Most shows , they cut to a long shot during a fight scene so you can't tell that the stunt doubles are used. Sir Roger knows how to punch!!!

Then came "The man with the golden gun" and there went that idea. Also, as stated on one of the "James Bond" DVD-extras, Roger should never be shown running as it's an action hero disaster. Only John Pertwee runs worse but he had bad knees.
That said, I bought the colour series of "The Saint" when it was on sale from Network, and am very glad I did so. I'm even more glad about "Department S" and "The champions".
