While I have quite a number of these C.Ds,
I am interested to know what you guys have as
I'm not sure of what has been released altogether.?
Who else here agree's that the MULAN promo is one of the finest Goldsmith scores,EVER!
The original release from Disney simply didn't do Jerry's score any justice. This was
one example of a Jerry Goldsmith score that
really needed MORE than the 30min.release on
Disney. What others do you guys think deserve
the promo treatment?

To my knowledge, the MULAN Oscar promo is Goldsmith's ONLY promo, apart from the SPFM Tribute disc.

I was always surprised that Varese or somebody didn't release his "rejected" score for ALIEN NATION (it was dropped because the movie was drastically recut, not because the filmmakers were unhappy with it). Varese issued a couple of other rejected scores, e.g. Elmer Bernstein's LAST MAN STANDING, and as ALIEN NATION was an all-synth score, re-use rights wouldn't have been the problem ... I can only guess that Goldsmith simply didn't want the score issued, hence the bootleg. I'm sure he especially wouldn't want the score issued NOW, since he recycled the main theme for THE RUSSIA HOUSE (and far more evocatively, I might add.)

Varese also wanted to issue Goldsmith's LEGEND at the time it was rejected, but the owning company in England (Filmtrax, I think) refused to license it, thinking -- Goldsmith guessed -- that they'd make more money importing their own copies. Now, at least, we have the expanded Silva issue, which is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

I'd like to hear THE REINCARNATION OF PETER PROUD, to my ear his creepiest score ever, issued with superior sound.

Thank's for the list. One of the titles that
really surprises me is EXPLORERS(Expanded)
Is it available to buy?

I don't have it...yet. I'm working on it. I think it has either 15 or 28 minutes more music. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/smile.gif">

'Mulan' is the last great score that Goldsmith composed. Disney's cd is a shame.

D.E - Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a more complete EXPLORERS myself. But when I saw your post just up above, I somehow mistake EXPLORERS for INNERSPACE and proceeded to post a message about the complete version, then realized I made a mistake.

Spacehunter,
There is a scene in INNERSPACE where the Cowboy is all tied up in the bath and Martin Short changes his face to look like the cowboy.
Do you remember Goldsmith's music,It's really
quite funky, but It didn't make it to the bootleg.

Damn! I never realized that piece wasn't on the CD until you just mentioned it. You're right. I wonder why it was left off, when there seems to be nearly everything on the CD.

I guess you´re referring to the Soundtrack Library boot. There´s PRIVATE boot out there that has MORE music....

Bones, which has better sound the private boot of INNERSPACE or the SLibrary?

Btw, you have the Murder at 1600 sessions right? Is it worth getting that set, or is the promo sufficient? If you can, would you let me know how long and how many cues are on those discs? Thanks!

Memory like an elephant,
Sean
