hi there,
i need a complete track listing from the soundtrack [LP] to the film "Petulia" from 1969. Furthermore, does anybody know if it has been released on CD, either as a standalone score or as part of a compilation?

thx,
cr

I've just heard that Petulia will be released on CD by Warner Bros in a couple of months time.

Now that is music to my ears!! Barry is my favorite and Petulia is one score I've wanted on CD for a long time. I've always felt it's very similar to Deadfall, (which FSM restored) recorded the same year. Geoff, how did you hear Warner's was opening up the vaults? Any other buried treasures?

I got the information from the latest edition of Record Collector magazine, which announced
many forthcoming WB releases. It wasn't made clear if this is a UK release or US, and I can't find any information on any of Warner's web-sites. The full list includes albums which have received releases elsewhere in the world, one or two quite recently, like Bullitt, but maybe this is a re-launch?

Anyway, here's the list:

John Barry - Petulia
Jerry Goldsmith - Outland
Ennio Morricone - The Exorcist 2: The Heretic
Alex North - Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?
Jerry Fielding - The Gauntlet
                - The Wild Bunch
Lalo Schifrin - Bullitt
               - Enter The Dragon
               - The Fox
Quincy Jones - The Hot Rock
              - Dollars
Mandel & Weissberg - Deliverance
Ry Cooder - Paris, Texas
Michael Legrand - The Summer Of '42.

Cheers,

hey, what's this one like?

I tend to stay away from these exorcist flicks, so I've never heard it.

Although I should post this in the soundtrack confessional thread, I like Morricone's Exorcist II score. Reagan's theme is a slow melodic piece complete with a choral arrangement. The rest of the score is an eclectic mix of African chants and rhythms. Overall a guilty
pleasure but shouldn't be dismissed either.

Does anyone know if the original tapes are available for Petulia? I assume this album release is not the original score as was done so often back then. I would love to see a full release of this it is possible.

The album may actually longer than the score in the film.

From memory, there's only about three or four minutes of music in the film not on the album. By contrast, the album has Highway 101 (not in the film) and versions of the Petulia theme which I can't remember if they're in the film or not.
