Is this some beautiful music by Mychael Danna, or what? Just seeing the film, and madly falling in love with the score. Is there any full blown score cd aviable, or just the one with the songs on it? This is one of the most beautiful scores I have heard in ages! Please help!

np: hearts in atlantis (mychael danna)

The CD soundtrack contains both original score and songs of the period. The score is absolutely beautiful. This soundtrack is reasonably available. It's one of Danna's best although I think I like his ICE STORM a little more, and sadly there is no commercial release of that fabulous music....darn.

It's a real shame that only a mere 20 minutes of score made it onto the CD. It leaves you craving desperately for more. A very fine score but I think it's slightly inferior to his wonderful Girl Interrupted which has a very similar tone - delicate, emotionally affecting music. The perfect companion score to Hearts in Atlantis really.

Still my absolute favorite Mychael Danna score - always worth a re-acquaintance.

I'm sure many here have snagged a copy of the FYC CD on EBay which has 31 tracks.

I haven't - but would gladly buy an official release on CD.

La La Land have had some excellent Warner releases. Here's hoping for this gem in the future big grin

A Canadian composing icon - one of my favourites is his score to Atom Egoyan's Ararat - if you don't own that one, do yourself the favour.

This is my favorite Mychael Danna score, mostly because I love the film and his fabulous cue "The Hill" elevates a truly powerful scene. Stylistically the scoring is cut from the same cloth as a lot of Thomas Newman's 1990s work - understated, light, piano-driven - but I prefer what Danna did here to a lot of Newman's work. There's less than 20 minutes on the official CD (which is mostly populated with [wonderful] period songs) but as mentioned there is indeed a FYC promo floating around out there.

Looked this up today - realized I already said what I wanted to say back in 2015, I do think it's worth a bump though. smile

The complete score was released on digital platforms yesterday!

What a wonderful, hauntingly melancholic score and listening pleasure this still is.

So, we now have the four tracks from the original release PLUS fourteen from the digital release. Can anyone help with the correct track order?

I'm confused. This "complete" release is only 22 minutes but the FYC I have is 34 minutes / 31 tracks (but doesn't have a track listing). What is actually on the FYC?

I believe the FYC promo has the music that was tracked in from other scenes. I could be wrong though.

This is such a great score. Happy they finally releases more of it.

Actually this doesn't appear to be complete. I believe it's missing at least one really huge track: when Ted is finally taken by the low men. Kind of an odd omission since it felt like the whole score was leading up to this moment and it was essentially the climax.
