I don't know it, but it's Poledouris, the title & cover are intriguing, and the audio sample is great.
BuySoundtrax announces its release in their newsleter-- no date, though, just "coming soon".
I can't find the announcement on the site, though.
Here is the link to the sample:

I remember this being a miniseries around the time Poledouris did Lonesome Dove. It was depressing with a story much like Red Dawn where Russians invade and take over part of the US. Am I wrong? Great clip there though of the score.

The quieter theme in the sample reminded me of Lonesome Dove indeed.

Yes, it was an enormous and controversial miniseries, five or six or seven parts long. Critics from the left and right had their conspiracy theories about it (the Right, I believe, felt it inadequately portrayed the evils of life under Soviet rule). It was a real down-to-the-wire affair getting the thing on, and I remember reading at the time that Poledouris was actually conducting music for the last part just before it aired!

I'm sure Ford could fill us in further. Given the enormity of the project, I think it's understandable that this took so long to finally come out. I'm really looking forward to this CD!

I have had the opportunity to hear the final master of this opus and it's a GEM! Perhaps Basil's Masterpiece! This, in my opinion, is the release of the year! My only complaint is the cover art, which, in my opinion (as well as about a dozen others I know who have seen it) is quite possibly the worst cover in the history of soundtracks. Is this the soundtrack to Raid commercials? WTF is it? It has nothing to do with the mini series!

However, to paraphrase the old saying, "Don't judge a cd by its cover."

If you can only afford one cd for the next few months I would pick up AMERIKA (and yes, that includes even La La Land product). This score is his Magnum Opus and it sounds AMAZING! Do NOT let this one pass you by.

Just uncovered this thread and was delighted to discover that MV considers this Basil's *magnum opus*! Maybe this gives extra hope for a La La Land reissue with the complete opus on three or four discs? It'd give you a chance to fix that cover you hate with a Jim Titus-designed one, MV...hint, hint!

It's been over 12 years so I think this one deserves a revisit considering how much prime orchestral Poledouris remains unreleased.

From the LLL Black Friday thread: "...two 4 disc sets waiting for approval, a 3 disc set and a single disc release."

Do you feel lucky?

This would be wonderful. Prometheus version was missing a cue that was frequently used during series as well as one or two other pieces. Needs a laland treatment.
