Here's a review for the flick from the Reporter. No mention of the score, so it must not be that memorable. Usually the Trades make a remark about the music one way or another.

Well that give a pretty good picture of the movie and it's intent. Even the running time, at a scant 87 minutes, is kid's sized.

BTW Bondo I notice that you always ask about ann upcoming Zimmer score by referencing another Zimmer score. Wouldn't it be great if it didn't sound quite like any existing Zimmer?

In this case, I referenced Pirates because the (now missing) clips on Jim Dooley's site sound like they could have been taken from the same score. To address your question, perhaps I'm asking because if it sounds too much likes Pirates, I won't get it! (thankfully already answered by Dan) I actually do that with all composers, not just Zimmer.

And I always like to have some idea what I'm buying before I put down $18. wink

A long time dead, unfortunately. But I know what you mean. Even were he still around, they'd never have used him for this film. At least its good to know that his music is held in such high regard that people who remember it don't think it can be matched.

Sad, but I think your right, if Barry Gray were alive I doubt his phone would have been ringing!

This is no slight on Zimmer's score...I haven't heard any of it.

As for the score (those of you who have heard it), does it resemble Pirates of the Caribbean?

Been listening to the CD today, and I don't think it's like PIRATES at all, really. It has some big heroic themes, and if I had to pick one, I'd say it's more like THE PEACEMAKER than PIRATES.

But hey, what do I know!? wink
Dan

Playing this today. It's a really fun score with a driving main theme. Not his best, but far from his worst. I think it's a bit underrated. I also think the movie is an enjoyable "family" film. I know purists hate it, but I have little personal connection with the original series.

A rousing score to an ill-conceived 'Spy Kids' retread. (Frakes does what he can with a bad idea)

Med-to-Big orchestral sound, good themes. I don't own a lot of Zimmer, but this is one of my favorites that I do own.

It's much better than those garbage Spy Kids films. Don't know why ppl keep making that connection. Agree on the score.
