since this has reminded me, there was tons of great lines in this, as well as great music - but one that made me roll up was the bit where the various sleuths have attempts made on their lives and assemble back downstairs.
David Niven and Maggie Smith (as Dick and Nora Charleston) come back downstairs and Niven is explaining some long winded part of the plot while Dora looks uncomfortable when one of the other sleuths says
(paraphrasing)
"But how did you get away from that poisonous snake?!"
and David Niven replies: "Er... we didn't, he bit Dora, and we've got 20 minutes to get to a hospital !"
(something like that)

I think youre right Carl, it could well be a scorpion.
There are just bucketloads and loads of good one liners in this film.
but my other favourite - apart from the blind butler licking the stamps onto the desktop and missing the invites - but the bit where Dick and Dora Charleston arrive.
"Good Lord, a blind Butler!" says Dick
and the wife Dora remarks: "Just dont let him park the car, Dickie."
again might not be word for word.

on the foggy road, near the movie's end; as the Wangs are departing from Twain Manor, they pass a vintage car heading up TO the Manor. The other car is driven by Holmes and Watson
Doctor Watson: ... I say, old boy! Could you possibly give us directions to - Hello, it's Mr. Sidney Wang!
Sherlock Holmes: [smoking his famous pipe] Greetings, Mr. Wang.
Sidney Wang: Ah, greetings to you as well! You have something to ask, I believe. Directions to where?
Doctor Watson: Ah, yes! We've been "cordially invited to dinner and a murder," by a Mr. Lionel Twain.
Willie Wang: "Lionel Twain???? Listen, you guys don't wanna...!
Sidney Wang: [cutting him off] Never mind him, please. Here - you go up this road, past bridge to "22 Twain." No can miss it.
Doctor Watson: Ever so much obliged. Good day, then!
[he and Holmes drive off]
Willie Wang: I don't get it, Pop! Why didn't you just tell them it was all a rip-off?
Sidney Wang: Ah, let idiots find out for themselves! Drive, please.
it says it is one of three scenes cut. Anyone any idea why they cut it? quite funny addition actually.
the trivia section also tells us this gem:
Peter Sellers reportedly played a number of practical jokes on cast and crew during filming, including once calling Neil Simon up whilst imitating co-star Alec Guinness and demanding a re-write of a key scene in the middle of the night. Neither Guinness nor Simon was amused!!
