TD's label is now called Eastgate. Nothing seems to be happening. A year or two back, on the TD website, there was very vague, very prelim question asking if people would be interested in score releases, but nothing since. I hope BSX is working on a rerecording of The Keep, as they did with The Thing and Blade Runner etc... but... there doesn't seem to be any organized effort to get those great TD scores expanded and back on disc....    Posted:   Sep 14, 2013 - 5:10 PM     By:   LeHah   (Member) There are issues that are not public knowledge (and nothing I've been privy too eithe) that the score to The Keep is wrapped up in issues. LaLaLand listed it among their very short "it's never coming, so don't ask" list.    Posted:   Sep 14, 2013 - 5:35 PM     By:   MikeP   (Member) Supposedly the release was cancelled twice, the aborted Virgin LP at the time of the film's release, and then again in the late 90's - but the last proposed release may have been the TDI version which includes very little actual score. I'm guessing some of the legal issues may come from the alternate arrangement / adaptation of Brian Eno/ David Byrne's "Mea Culpa" used as the film opening track - or even the use of Howard Blake's The Snowman ? Eno & Byrne were never listed in the film credits, whereas Blake was mentioned. The Tangerine Tree version is the easiest to locate these days and is a good representation of the score...although there's more ambient music missing from that version. I think the remixes themselves are hit-or-miss, depending on whether or not you like TD as eezee-listening-dinner-muzak. Most of the tracks in the Tangents box are fine for me. Some later rerecorded tracks like "No Man's Land", are worlds away from the originals, though. The 2008 album recording of Hyperborea and Tangram are good, while his reworking of Phaedra isn't as successful. But his new album recordings of Epsilon In Mayalsian Pale, Stuntman and Macula Transfer are solid ( although nothing replaces the original Stuntman album, not only Froese's best solo album but I'd rate it top 10 among all TD associated recordings ) .    Posted:   Sep 26, 2013 - 3:08 PM     By:   GoblinScore   (Member) BTW, anyone knows why the movie ended being so messed? Did the studio forced director to cut it? The money ended? What happened? In answer to an actual question from you, Scott Glenn told me that effects man Wally Veevers passed away before he was able to finish the sequence. Various effects people were called in, but no one could figure out the process he used in order to finish the scene, which I believe involved significant wire work. So they basically had to go with what they had, hence the truncated ending. A brilliantly atmospheric, mind-boggling horror movie. Still my all-time grail to see out on CD one of these days. Fantastic stuff. Most other CD releases have been rerecordings form various sources including a toned down one made by Edgar Froese himself, which I;ve been told by TaDream enthusiasts pales by comparison to the genuine score. It would seem if you hate THIEF, you won't like much else of what they have done... steer clear. I sort of can see his point. The Keep reminds me of TD's earlier Virgin years albums like Stratosphere, Phaedra, even Sorcerer. The synths The Dream used on Thief were more digital like the GDS and less analog like their Arps, Moogs, Polymoogs, Prophet 5, etc. that were warmer sounding.
