Finally, Decca will release an album containing music from the first film (Hans Zimmer) and second film (Henning Lohner and Martin Tillman)!

Excellent news. One of the few recent scores I've really liked that didn't get a CD release.

Decca is generally good about putting a significant amount of score on their CDs, so hopefully we'll get all the best parts

This IS good news. I hope the second score will be (is, whatever) as good as the first...

Nice to see a thread NOT slamming Mr. Zimmer!

Actually, for all the Zimmer criticism, it's a fair consensus that his "Ring" score did get many a grudging nod on this board...and any criticism was the grousing of a lack of soundtrack release.

I like the atypical Zimmer score. but they rarely get releases...for instance, there was no release of his Nino Rota "homage" for "Matchstick Men," either! But I will definitely pick up "The Ring."

Huh? That score's available from Varese Sarabande. 40+ minutes of Zimmer score, plus several groovy retro pieces by Herb Albert and the Tiuana Brass, Bobby Darin, and others. Great CD. big grin

Great news about The Ring finally getting released, because, along with Matchstick Men, it's one of Zimmer's strongest efforts. Plus, since it's a short score, we might even get all of it on disc.

I'm not a huge Zimmer & Co. fan, but I certainly liked The Ring. It's great that it's finally becoming legally available and thanks should go to whoever talked Hans into releasing it after his initial decision to pass on it.

Good news indeed!

The music Zimmer made for the remake was not nearly as affective as the music for the original film.

Somebody had to say it.

Hopefully Decca doesn't take the opportunity to weigh down another good score with dialogue... the Aviator was an unfortunate recent casualty.
