Are these back in stock. Ive seen these being hawked on ebay quite a lot of times this past month. I already have these treasures and I must say what high quality of televison scores these are.

For those who havent had a chance to claim these before they went out of print and again after a re-pressing should try to get them from Screen Archives as they have all four cds or try Ebay.

As far as the series is concerned they are planned for a DVD release sometime at year end. So,I wouldnt mind seeing the music score from the Pilot episode which was done by Lauwrence Rosenthal. I loved the Egyptian mystery theme and the "Arrival at Cairo" cue.

Amen to that! They should have at least had a volume five so they could work "Curse of the Jackyl" onto CD. Great stuff. "Mystery of the Blus" needs to be on disc as well since it very briefly features the traditional Indy theme.

If Varese doesn't go back into the Young Indy world (which they probably won't), I would be just about as happy if Silva got Nic Raine to record some of that stuff that isn't out there. Sometimes his recordings are acceptable alternatives to music that you can't get the OST for.

Can't wait for those DVD's!

I just picked these up from SAE this past week. I agree wholeheartedly: Get 'em while you can!

"Mystery of the Blues" is on Volume Three. A very entertaining selection of songs and score.

As MarkB notes, "Mystery of the Blues" is on Volume 3, but the included score there doesn't have any of the John Williams-based Indy material for the framing material with the 50-year-old Indy played by Harrison Ford. It's still full of great stuff, though.

Volume 4 does have some very Williamsesque material by Joel McNeely from "Phantom Train of Doom," a particular movie / episode that had a lot of the flavor of the features.

IIRC, Ford Thaxton once said on this board that "Curse of the Jackal" would be cost-prohibitive to release since it re-use fees would apply. This makes me sad.

I have all of the chronicles on VHS and I am happy to hear that they will soon be on DVD. My question about the films is: Why are there gaps between the movies? At one point the series goes from Part 18 to 20. Have the other parts of the chronicles been released or will be in the DVD series?
On the part of the soundtracks I saw them over at Buysoundtrax.com and I will probably get them at SAE. Glad to see that they are available. I'll probably get them on Friday!
Thanks for the news!

Paramount released a bunch of Indiana Jones tapes in, what was it - late 1999? - including the three feature films, plus several Young Indy tapes. The episodes released were chosen according to some criteria other than their internal chronology; I don't know how the tapes in the first wave were selected to be in it, but the intention was to release the whole series in a couple waves, and the second wave would have had the rest. The tapes didn't sell as well as hoped, though (even the three movies, according to what I've read), largely because fans were holding out for the expected DVDs, so Paramount never bothered to release the rest of the series on tape.

Once again I got suckered into buying the VHSs! The DVDs will cost even more than the VHSs so I guess I'm stuck with the ones I have. I'll probably get the ones I don't have on DVD. Thanks for the info!
