There's a pretty interesting http://www.gramophone.co.uk/audio/features/default.asp?detail=movie" TARGET=_blank>article about Elliot Goldenthal at the website of the British classical magazine Gramophone.

He talks a bit about Final Fantasy, too. Looks like it's going to be a rather "tame" score - for Goldenthal, that is. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/wink.gif">

Why am I not surprised that he writes everything at night?

ELLIOT SEZ: "I make love listening to Schoenberg."

Well, I can only hope that he's making love exclusively to his left hand.

ELLIOT ON *ALIEN 3*: "I used the orchestral textures of Polish avant-garde composers like Penderecki and Lutoslawski".

I know that Marian is a fan of ALIEN 3. But I still haven't gotten around to either it or Penderecki. Although I recently heard another Goldenthal thing called JUAN DARIEN and it annoyed the crap out of me.

Laz....Lux....whichever it may be these days http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/smile.gif">

DARIEN is no place to start with Elliot! Try something more accessible like GOLDEN GATE,MICHAEL COLLINS or one of the finest, most varied scores of the 90's COBB.

The thing is, you have to be in a bit of a wacky mood to appreciate Penderecki,Goldenthal and all that avant garde jazz.....preferable a sour mood to be honest. But if your feeling adventurous, try it http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/biggrin.gif">

Either way, Final Fantasy will finally show how to do these Sci-Fi scores properly, and hopefully put an end to shallow Revell-ian tripe.

This place was always a FIGHT CLUB.
The only difference is that now it became more openly, with people droping the ludicrous "pcness" and just being themselves (except maybe Thor The Bore).

Wish I could help. I have no idea. There aren't many audio interviews with Goldenthal available out there. I've done two myself, and then there is the excellent 1-hour Q&A he did years ago. Maybe some Youtube clips.
