Hi Thor. I have all Angel Cds and are great!
He is a talented person and a great man, nice being and full of humour.

He composed scores in the Delerue sound but also adventures work as La Isla del Cangreso, a score much more important than the animated children movie that was made for...

El Rey de la Granja is an awful movie but the scores is very good and not much known.

Son of the Bride is perhaps is most "Delerue" work... and Yoyes contains two main themes that make me cry!

El Celo is superb too, Una Historia Reciente is a rejected score, much better than the score that they finally used...

The main theme from Tiempo de Tormenta is another great gem.

Please, dont miss his work. Im sure that if Angel could put a score in an american movie he will get a great reputation, as Roque Banos with The Machinist!

See you!

The pirate music they talk about is La Isla del Cangrejo: a wonderfull score that denotes the great talent of Angel, able to compose for drama, comedy, adventure, mistery (as El Celo) and more...

by the way, you can access to pictures of Angel Illarramendi with some fans in
http://www45.brinkster.com/congresoubeda/

there you will see other composers that where there, as Brian Tyler, John Frizzell, Don Davis...

my pictures of the event are here! (Angel included)

Whoa. Never heard of this guy or any of the films he's scored - But I'm REALLY impressed by some of these samples! I love making discoveries like this. There's so much talent out there that's never discussed around here.

I will see if I can track down some of his music. Thanks for putting him on my radar!

Illaramendi is a bit like Delerue for me -- he's brilliant at bittersweet, melancholic melodies (sometimes with a religious twist), but not very good at suspense. Still, I've been following his career since the early 2000s, so I'd love to check out this classical album.
