Well, I'll tell you...no other work of this composer is more fitting for this thread!

Me too! By some US university orchestra who totally messed up those wonderful horn parts in Beethoven's Eroica. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/biggrin.gif"> They also played the Psycho suite!

NP: Damien: Omen II (Jerry Goldsmith)

Of course, my dear friend! And the fact that Herrmann championed the music of Mr. Ives throughout his life, proves to be fitting in this thread! http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/biggrin.gif">

OK, for those of you out there who have your panties all bunched, let us review the original question:

"Does anyone know if Herrmann recorded anything for Unicorn or London that was NEVER released, for one reason or another?"

It seems to me that I answered this question, when I said:

"Yes. I know."

And, Mr. Mellies confirmed that fact.

What fact Mr. Mellies confirmed?

THE ANSWER - Herrmann recorded several pieces not released = two extra pieces from Day the Earth Stood Still showed up on a compilation along with alternate takes of other pieces. He also recorded several more pieces from Fahrenheit 451 but the tapes were lost.

Considering the high quality of the London-Decca recordings -still awesome after 27 or 25 years-and the fact that they were made under the musical direction of Herrmann, those are sad news
