One of the biggest films of the year was scored this past month, and SoundtrackNet was there! Michael Giacchino recorded his score to Mission: Impossible III, and we've got the pictures and the scoop for you! As a bonus, see Tom Cruise conduct the 112-piece orchestra!

Enjoy!

Ahhh Dan Wallin... That looks like a rather painful setup they had him working with there. I thought dividers like that went out of style in the 1970s. And he's 79 years old-- holy cow! I guess he can still apparently hear quite well.

Thanks very much for the pics!

"Giacchino not only lends his own take on "Mission: Impossible", but also his own version of "The Plot"."

Just as Elfman did in his score for De Palma's entry. Hope Giacchino tops it ! (and Abrams)

Great pictures and article, Dan. Also enjoyed your previous interview with Giacchino as well. I'm looking forward to this score, so thanks for keeping us updated on MI3.

Great stuff, Dan! Terrific shots. Very cool of them to give you this access. Very glad to see those bongos and vibes. Really looking forward to hearing this one now.

Terrific pictures and article, Dan. (Does anyone think we'd be able to tell in the music where a regular conductor conducts and where Cruise chimes in???wink

For the record, the recording of Cruise conducting the M:I theme was not a final take; they had to re-record the cue this week.

For an additional record, I'd like to clarify that it wasn't re-recorded because of Mr. Cruise (who did a fine job), but because during the previous bombastic cue, the percussionists had broken all of their bamboo sticks that were used for the sound that was needed.

I'm looking for the DSD remastered version of this soundtrack, but don't want to buy from Ark Square, it takes too long to get it from there. I would rather order it from Amazon, but can't find it there.
