Is there anyone who posts here from Spain who could tell me if this film had a soundtrack release? I heard audio samples of Roque Banos' score on a website promoting the film's release in Spain and the music was great, much like his score for THE MACHINIST. If so, a link to where I can buy it would be much appreciated.

There was a release of the score in Spain on the Filmax label, but I think Mellowdrama Records is already working on getting this one out to the rest of the world.

Can anyone recommend any soundtrack dealers in Spain where I could buy this now? Preferably a website with English text, too.

The main title sounds beautiful, here, if you quickly click 'track 2' and avoid the music that plays automatically when you hit the Spanish language webpage:

Good luck in securing this release, Melowdrama. I'd snap it up. I love The Machinist. Baños is one to watch.

I just don't understand why it's so hard to get some of these Spanish releases... I see them when they get reviewed on the Spanish review sites and they never list a purchasing link. So, short of knowing someone in Spain, it seems like we are reduced to getting gouged by shady eBay sellers. Troubling.

I had the exact same problem when the soundtrack to THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE was released in Spain several years ago. I found a soundtrack website that listed it for sale, but the Spanish text made the site very difficult to navigate. I finally gave up and bought it thru a U.S. friend who happened to be on holiday in Spain.

When I bought the original Filmax release of The Machinist, I got it through Discoweb UK. Unfortunately they seem to have redesigned their site since then and so far I haven't had much luck finding any Baños scores there, let alone Fragiles.

About the best place I know of to get Spanish cds is http://www.footlight.com and even their selection is rather limited, though they do have The Devil's Backbone for a very good price. I checked and didn't find Fragiles there, though they do have a few other Baños scores listed that are pretty good, including my favorite of his, No Somos Nadie (mistakenly filed under director Jordi Mollà's name, though the first disc of the 2-cd set is all Baños.) I'd say if you really need Fragiles now, ebay's gonna be your best bet. Personally, I'm gonna hold off in the hopes that Mellowdrama's gonna come through on this one.

I do hope it won't be too diffucult to get a hold of Javier Navarrete's score to Pan's Labyrinth later this year. That's got to be the score I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2006. As much as I love Marco Beltrami's work with Guillermo del Toro, I'm really glad he has Navarrete score his Spanish language stuff. The short audio clip at http://www.deltorofilms.com is very promising, and the film itself looks breathtaking.

Here's a direct link to the clip for anyone interested:

Thanks for the tip, I finally found it, though I had to browse through their full catalog listing. Their search engine doesn't work for me at all.

Am I the only one who didn't like THE MACHINIST? I bought it without seeing the film, was bored to death, than I listened to it after seeing the film and was just totally left cold. It sounds like a whole bunch of nice sounding atmospheric music.

Actually, I prefer most of the other Baños scores I own over The Machinist, though it was that score that got me to take a closer look at his output.

The cue "They just stay near what they love" from FRAGILE is the best piece of music I've heard this year so far, IMO. I acquired mine off ebay and it's well worth it. Thankfully Mellowdrama is giving this amazing score a much wider release! Buy it!

I also highly recommend his score to CRIMEN FERPECTO, a very frantic and darkly comedic score. The film is a real hoot, too!

Does anybody know when Mellowdrama Records will release Fragiles?
I'm afraid Filmax release is no longer available.

I think Mellowdrama scrapped plans to bring out FRAGILE. A shame, as the liner notes they would have put on the score would have made the score a bit more accessible without having to watch the film. (FRAGILE is a good score incidentally.)

Well, I'm certainly glad I got impatient and tracked down the Filmax release now. Hopefully there will still be a wider release of the score, though I'd have thought Mellowdrama would have released this one months ago if they were still planning to do it.

It is possible to listen to a stream of the full album at Rhapsody.com though.
