Got the CD in the mail this afternoon. Very strong work from Basil, love the liner notes from Mr Thaxton and agree with him on the addition of "Dingo Attack" being a plus to the album presentation. Overall, an improvement over the (already excellent) Intrada disc. I'm glad you enjoyed, it's a very bittersweet affair from my point of view. On one hand It's a dream project, a score I've always loved from a film a really like from a composer who I hold in the highest regard. On the other hand, at the moment I can't look at it or play it, it just too painful right now, Basil was one of the best human beings I've ever meet and this one will always remind me of the last time I spoke with him. I'm sure this will pass, I'm just very happy that people like you enjoy it and will remember Basil as the great artist he was. Ford A. Thaxton

I hadn't heard it in a long time, but I played it the other day (the Intrada issue), and really liked it. I may pick up the expanded release at some point. NP: THE INTERPRETER (James Newton Howard)

Sir Ford: Never apologize for your hallmark of humanity. And while the pain will ne'er truly fade away, at least you can take substantial solace in the fragrant fact you honored Mr. Poledouris in the most profound way: Your work and your substantial sensitivity. Not the worst of mortal epitaphs ... and I admire that titled integrity above (and beyond) all else.

I just received the new expanded version and I must say that it is wonderful. New tracks such as "The Redcoats Move On" and "The Arrival" are welcome additions. And the sound is superb. If you don't have this, it is well worth your consideration. And praise to Ford for a job well done. Eagerly awaiting this, yeah old Thaxton is a good 'un, he keeps plugging away ! Niall.

It's a wonderful score (a complete, expanded CD is certainly warranted), but one suspects that the producers suggested to Goldsmith that he write something "Elfman-like." Goldsmith complied, and came up with sometting quite memorable.
