R.I.P. James Gandolfini.

I avoided THE SOPRANOS in the past as I generally don't like shoot-em-ups, but I've put in for the first three seasons at the library after reading more about it.

I'm also very intrigued about Chase's forthcoming project A RIBBON OF DREAMS, a miniseries about the development of the motion picture industry.

Something I remember reading from way back when the first series aired - Sopranos experts may recall it with more clarity - but the publicity was that there were stories doing the rounds about actual mob guys being recorded by the FBI discussing how realistic Gandolfini was and asking how did they manage to make the series so accurately and get it so spot on.
There may have been more to it but that was the gist of what was reported.

As the year ends and everyone reflects on the royal talents and gifted thesps who so prematurely departed
this isolated blue orb on the outer fringes of the galaxy, we really oughta take note of Mr. Gandolfini's much
-applauded finale - and if you haven't checked it out, by all means do so pronto, Tonto.

We wouldn't be overly surprised if it merits him a Best Supporting Actor nom as it showcases the sensitive
strength always part and parcel of Tony Soprano's terminally-damaged character's core. As to that, there'll
never be

about and concerning this performer's pure gold ...
