I just saw this quite enjoyable Kurt Wimmer film from 2002. Score was by Klaus Badelt, serviceable and hip, as usual from the german. One of the themes was very similar to Zimmer's Broken Arrow though, I wonder if the film got temped with BA. Nice electric guitar work, and something else which reminded me of Rabin's The One. And quite a few MI2 elements too. I can't help thinking that Badelt could have been better with themes though, it all gets to sound a little like wallpaper at times. So then, not as good as The Recruit, but still. A pity no official soundtrack was released, I wonder why Varese didn't pick this one up.

I kind of feel like EQUILIBRIUM was the most hilariously ridiculous movie I'd seen in years. The whole gun-fu thing and dancing around gunfire is surely meant to be very funny, right? Ryan

I'm pretty familiar with both Equilibrium and Broken Arrow, and I'm not really sure which part(s) you're talking about. Could you be more specific? Just curious! The score definitely should have been released, it's one of Badelt's best. I don't have the film or the score, so I can't pinpoint which part sounded like Broken Arrow. There were just this combination of notes that I felt I had heard before...

I found this movie ridiculous - much though I appreciated some of the genuine performances. Badelt's music was something that nearly always felt out of place.

Nine years since I posted that thread. I have to admit that I haven't thought of this score for a second since then. So I guess a release wasn't neccessary. :-D
