I always hoped Bay Cities or Citadel would release a CD of this score by Holdridge (for a geeky teenage love story from the early '70's) which includes some lovely 'Cello Concerto' tracks amongst some upbeat 'pop' scoring. The LP was on United Artists, I think (I have a few copies around somewhere, some purchased for 29p from a LP warehouse in Manchester years ago). Anyone remember this one or know if a CD release is likely?

I sure remember this one! I'd love to see a CD copy. Holdridge's work on this was first-rate...

I also own the LP and enjoy it very much. Other great old LP's of Holdridge's early work are FOREVER YOUNG, FOREVER FREE, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN PART 2 and OLIVER'S STORY, the sequel to LOVE STORY. They are all most enjoyable and also in my LP collection.

Great stuff.

I think I purchased my sealed copy of JEREMY at Woolworth's for 49 cents back in the day.

Here's one for sale on ebay:

I have this LP and it's quite nice. As I recall there is a Joseph Brooks song sung by Robby Benson "The Hourglass Song" that sounds a lot like the "Nicole's theme" he did for the LP of GARDEN OF THE FINZI-CONTINIS. But I prefer the Holdridge song, "Jeremy," that co-star Glynnis O'Connor sang.

I recently saw the film on DVD and it's an interesting film.

Benson & O'Connor went on to star in ODE TO BOBBY JOE together and I'd love to see that Michel Legrand score on CD this time WITH the song "There'll Be Time" that O'Connor sang.

Another Holdridge score that would be wonderful to have on CD is FOREVER YOUNG, FOREVER FREE. Beautiful score with a wonderful song sung by Bernadette Peters with lyrics by Rod McKuen.

Yeah...Forever Young, Forever Free (aka Lollipop) is another cracker. Some lovely African chorus moments in that one, I recall.
It's been a while since I spun that one.
I feel a Lee Holdridge fest comin' on.

I'd love a great LP transfer or expanded release of this lovely score on CD.
The Cello Concerto remains one of my favourite classical/score crossover pieces ever.
Just a beautiful and emotive work (sadly, missing a movement on the LP).
C'mon Ford, get it sorted!! smile

Not familiar with this one but I LOVE early Holdridge - Well, ANY Holdridge, really! Bring it on.

Still waiting for THE PACK, an incredibly muscular and thematic horror score with a heart-melting end title theme. I asked Holdridge about this one a while back and he said he definitely wants to see it released, but that the master tapes need some cleaning up (it was, after all, recorded by the muddy-eared Dan Wallin!)

Also love his OLIVER'S STORY score and would love to see that released too. His knack for incredibly simple, yet immensely yearning themes has always amazed me.

Seven years later, sigh... still no "Jeremy" frown

C'mon, guys, somebody's gotta see a market for this.

Never seen Jeremy, but I'd love to see an album for "Skyway to Death". I really hope some label will put more focus on this terrific composer.

Never seen Jeremy...

It's quite a special little movie. I think how special one thinks it is depends on how old they are when they first see it.
When you're of a certain age or sentimental disposition, there are some things that hit you like a brick.

"Friends" does it to me, too.
(I mean the 1971 movie--not the TV show. big grin)

I've never seen the film, but I picked up the LP at a time when I was really getting into Lee Holdridge scores, after hearing The Beastmaster and Splash in their films and on LP.
Suddenly, all these wonderful 70's scores were out there (Forever Young, Forever Free, Other Side Of The Mountain, Oliver's Story) that featured his wonderful melodies and themes, not to mention his arrangement work with Denver, Diamond and other composers' scores (like Mahogany, which sounds pure Holdridge to me).
Jeremy really connected with me from the off. That deep, soulful cello theme and performance was just gorgeous and the light pop romantic cues were also lovely.
I have a CD transfer of the LP (which is okay, but not great) but would love a proper remaster or re-issue, maybe with extra score tracks if they're available.
