If, like me, you LOVE 70s funk scores (and funk in general), click the link attached:

When will Mr. Jones be inducted into the limited edition CD hall of fame??

Does anybody have one of his scores in production?
By this, I mean deluxe first time issue by any specialty label.

That film series is great. "In the heat of the night" gets better every time I watch it. At first my interest was with Tibbs but now I see that Steiger's character has more to offer.
The best scene to me is where Tibbs is confronted with his own weaknesses just after they have left the plantation owner in his green house to cry over his humiliating correction. The way the sheriff just brushes Tibbs down with the facts in two lines really adds depth to the film and what it wants to say.

As for "They call me mr. Tibbs", what the hell is with the DVD? complete side sections are missing of the image. They chopped a piece off of the left and the right. Can anyone give information on that?
Very grateful if you do.

Kind regards.

D.S.

For those who like the obscure, THE LOST MAN Universal Records 1969 is a dark gem.

I'd forgotten how good Tibbs was. I always loved Shagbag Hounds and Harvey off the Heat of the Night/Tibbs cd the best.

All good stuff.

Never really been into Quincy Jones; the cut from THEY CALL ME MISTER TIBBS! was great though. I bought DOLLAR$ years back on CD but didn't like it all that much - I usually like jazz-funk as well, so that was a bit of a surprise.

The James Last album WELL KEPT SECRET cries out for a CD release from the example played on You Tube - who'd have thought Last could be so funky wink

I'd be ecstatic to see a release of his replacement score for THE GETAWAY. I mean, it was all I knew when the movie came out. It's short and sweet, and not at all bad.

(forgive me, Josh Feldman).

After THE ORGANIZATION I would like to complete the Mr. Tibbs soundtracks trilogy.
Apart from the price difference, which is the best release between this

and this

?

(both available on amazon)

thanks

You can't go wrong with the Rykodisc pressing,
don't know about the other source.

I'd be happy if they would just start issuing some of his LPs on CD:

Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice [Bell]
Cactus Flower [Bell]
Enter Laughing [Liberty]
For Love of Ivy [ABC]
The Hot Rock [Prophesy]
In Cold Blood [Colgems]
John and Mary (includes various pop) [A&M]
The Lost Man [Universal City]
MacKenna’s Gold [Tsunami only] [RCA]
Mirage [Mercury]
Sanford and Son [TV] (includes dialogue) [RCA]
The Slender Thread [Mercury]

Same here. Additionally, The Reel Quincy Jones is worth picking up if you can find it cheap.
