Wonderful..... Sorry, John.....your "smelly" customer in AN AMERICAN IN PARIS is not Florence Bates, it's Madge Blake. They were probably the best reason to watch the movie, besides the photography by Joseph Biroc, and some of the performances. I haven't looked up their names yet. Maybe some of you can identify them. And she was by all accounts, including stories from some of my best friends, a joy to work with -- generous, giving, and an absolute professional.
